Luke Rackers, MFA
Luke Rackers, the founder of Music PLACE, has been a private studio and community music educator for over a decade. With a Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition and Pedagogy, Luke continues to find new ways to integrate music composition into curriculum and encourage musical creativity at all ages and levels. In addition to piano and composition lessons, Luke designs online courses that help to instill a passion for music-making and total musicianship. Luke is a passionate and caring educator who helps students develop a love for music with lifelong learning and creativity as a foundation. Inspiring students through curiosity, developing a joy for learning, and guiding students to reach their technical and artistic potential are the top priorities in Luke's studio.
Luke is pursing a Master of Arts in Critical and Creative Thinking graduate degree at UMass Boston to continue studying community arts education, learning & curriculum design, nonprofit administration, personalized and experiential learning, teaching artistry, and the psychology of learning & cognition. Luke continues to perform and compose, focusing on discovering and presenting new music in unique settings. Luke has a passion for researching creative aging and developing new programs that help advocate for music and arts education as a path to lifelong learning.
Luke is a member of the Music Teacher's National Association.
Luke serves as the Executive Director for Abundant Silence, a non-profit new music arts organization that helps support the work of living composers and develops programs to encourage creativity in students.
